Position Summary

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The Lead Teacher plans and implements educational activities, promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, and maintains positive relationships with families and staff.

The Lead Teacher serves as a positive role model, supports the mission of Growing Oaks Childcare Learning Center, and ensures compliance with all licensing regulations and center policies.

​

The Lead Teacher plays a critical role in delivering high-quality early childhood education and care. This position ensures that children receive consistent instruction, supervision, and support in a structured learning environment that promotes school readiness, character development, social skills, and positive behavior.

​Day to Day Responsibilities of the Lead Teacher:

​

• Provide active supervision of children at all times.

• Develop and facilitate developmentally appropriate experiences and activities using the provided curriculum for infants and toddlers.

• Foster children's cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional development.

• Establish and maintain consistent routines and expectations.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.

• Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.

• Supervise and participate in feeding, assist with toileting and changing of  diapers in a manner that promotes confidence and fosters positive emotional development in infants and toddlers. 

• Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and center policies.

• Monitor children's well-being and report concerns appropriately.

• Assess the growth and development of infants and toddlers by conducting assigned developmental screenings and assessments, while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.

• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records.

• Work cooperatively with assistant teachers, floaters, and administrative staff.

• Support other classrooms when necessary.

• Address parent questions and concerns professionally.

• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

• Participate in parent conferences, family events, and center activities as requested.

• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and teamwork.​​​

    Qualifications​​

• Minimum age of 18 years.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Must meet the state of Georgia's Bright From the Start requirements for Lead Teacher

• Credits earned towards accredited early childhood education program 

• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification or willingness and ability to obtain certification within required time frames.

• Successfully pass all required background checks.

       Preferred

• Child Development Associate (CDA) , Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC), Associate's degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education.

• Previous experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting.​​​

​​   Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry classroom supplies, objects and children up to 40 pounds.

• Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stoop, and actively engage with children.

• Support children’s daily care needs, including feeding, diapering, toileting, and related caregiving tasks.

• Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor activities.

• Ability to respond quickly during emergencies. ​

​Work Schedule

This position may require flexibility in scheduling based on classroom needs and center operations.

​

Compensation: $14-$18  per hour
